California Visit to the L.A. Zoo

We were in California this past week. Jake had his boards part 4 to take, so we made a family trip out of it. Although we didn't see much of Jake during the week me and the kids spent time with cousins and just hanging out. One of the highlights of our trip was the L.A. zoo. Owen's first time to the zoo, and Jaden's first time to the L.A zoo. We had a good time.
Jaden on the hippo at the zoo's playground.
Jaden near the Flamingos, and boy did they stink.
Owen and Laura near the second oldest Rhino in the world.
Papa, Corey, and Jaden on the alligator at the zoo's playground.
Jaden directing Corey. Buddies and cousins.

Happy Birthday Owen

Owen turns 2 today. He was born at 10:05 am at Mt. San Antonio Hospital in Upland California. He weighed 8 pd. 9 oz. and he arrived 2 days early (my due date was November 5). He calls his red blanket that he got from Grammy a "boppie", sleeps with his boppie and his little stuffed animal Mickey Mouse which he calls "mo mo". Calls Jaden, "brother", loves to sing Itsy Bitsy Spider, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Happy B-Day, Patty Cake, knows the color yellow, loves Elmo, and knows which hand is his left and which hand is right. And he still LOVES vacuums. His middle name is his great grandma DeVroom's maiden name, and his first name we got from the actor Owen Wilson. We love you Owen Happy B-Day.

Trick-Or-Treat

We had fun this Halloween. Jaden had a fun parade at school and we went to my Brother Corey's house to trick-or-treat with them. The weather was nice here in Utah considering in years past it has been freezing. Jaden decided that he wanted to be Indiana Jones and Owen was a spider. Jaden even wore my great-grandfater's going-to-church-meeting-cap. It looked pretty good for being around 80-years old.

I can't believe it!

Lately Owen has been telling us when he needs a diaper change. In his talk, "Mommy, pee pee." or "Mommy poopie." Well on Saturday he took off his diaper because it was pee pee and I decided to put him on the toilet. Well wouldn't you know it he went pee. So of course I shouted out a huge scream and did a pee pee dance ( a dance of stomping and jumping around acting foolishly) but hey Owen like it. So the next 15 minutes I put him back on the toilet and again he went pee. So of course mommy again had to do the pee pee dance and scream for joy. So I decided not to put a diaper back on him and just put him in his PJ bottoms. Well in another 15 minutes he went back on the toilet and went #2. I was excited and he was excited. It was a dream come true. So on Sunday morning I kept Owen's PJ bottoms on with no diaper and spent all day taking him to the toilet. He had two accidents at home and one accident at my brother in laws (sorry about that guys). On Monday Owen started telling us when he had to go. So long story short Owen is going to the bathroom on the toilet and we are only using diapers for bedtime. He has graduated to Elmo underwear before age 2. You go son!!!!! Bragging rights well deserved.

Utah Events

Since living in Utah Jaden has lost a tooth. He'll be asking for his two front teeth for Christmas. The tooth fairy left him 8 quarters.

We've never been to the copper mines so we took a Saturday drive to Kennecot. Owen enjoyed seeing the big tractors and that was all he wanted to see. So mom and Owen spent most of the time outside watching the tractors, watching the tractors, and watching the tractors.

Kids are Funny

Today I was teaching P.E. to an Elementary school K-6 and one of the second graders walks up to her friend and says, "I have a shirt just like that, but mines a little different." This made me laugh. Kids are so funny and it's amazing what comes out of some kids mouths. K-2 are my favorite age. They come up with the funniest things to say.
